Balda, Petr ; Dobiášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Jelínková, Marie (referee)
This Bachelor thesis pursues the topic of Finlands' basic income experiment 2017 - 2018, and its validity for the Czech Republic. The main focus of this thesis is on describing the experiment and contextualizing it within a welfare state / Finland's social security system. It also gives examples of other similar experiments. In the theoretical part, the author explains the theory of the welfare state and libertarianism, which provided the basis for the concept of minimum guaranteed income. In the analytical section, the author presents the results of Finland's experiment, the feasibility of the implementation in the Czech Republic, and a comparison of Finnish and Czech social security systems. The expert interviews proved to be a crucial input for understanding the issue in its complexity.
Basic Income, its features and implementation
Poštulková, Jitka ; Schneider, Ondřej (advisor) ; Vaško, Dan (referee)
This thesis introduces and analyzes the controversial topic of basic income, which have recently received increasing attention of academic, political as well as general community. Definition, origins and history of the theme, current BI discussion, possible alternative and practical implementations of BI are all summarized. The thesis also simulates potential effects of BI scheme adoption in the Czech Republic. Using detailed data on income distribution and estimates of labor elasticities, we estimated a tax rate on earned income that would be necessary to implement to make the BI scheme budget neutral. Our results suggest that such a rate would be much higher than the current compounded tax and social security contribution rates, rendering the BI concept impractical in the Czech Republic. Basic income and its ethical aspects: the right to exist or the right to idle?
Šenková, Eva ; Štica, Petr (advisor) ; Bouma, David (referee)
The basic income concept is a bold, challenging, and provocative proposal. It is an income unconditionally paid by a government, at a uniform level and at regular intervals, to each adult member of society. The grant is paid irrespective of whether the person is rich or poor, lives alone or with others, is willing to work or not. It should guarantee that all recipients have sufficient material conditions for their existence. This scheme is proposed as a mechanism of distributive justice, and as a tool to combat unemployment without increasing poverty. The economic independence would secure real freedom for all - an opportunity to do what they might want to do, including the permanent idleness. Implementing the basic income is to change current economic and social realities, not only the welfare system. The aim of this diploma thesis is to find ethically relevant aspects in the argumentation of positives and negatives of a basic income and to point out problems that are related to the concept of a basic income in ethical terms.

Sýkorová, Julie ; Maaytová, Alena (advisor) ; Gajdošová, Eva (referee)
This bachelor´s thesis entails information regarding the concept of basic income. It explains the definition of the concept, its theoretical framework and historical roots. The concept of basic income offers a new view at social security solution and tries to face the new challenges of the 21st century such as the rise of unemployment due to automation and persisting poverty. The thesis provides the advantages and disadvantages of that solution and introduces its debated format throughout the world as well as the various potential ways to fund this idea. The final section generally analyses the feasibility of basic income innovation and discusses its viability within the Czech Republic.
Model of Economic Impact of the Hypothetical Implementation of Guaranteed Income in the Czech Republic on the basis of data from 2015
Busta, David ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (advisor) ; Kovanda, Lukáš (referee)
The bachelor´s thesis compares models of social systems based on basic income and negative income tax with the current system. The first model represents the current system. Two models are based on the concept of basic income. One of them is funded through value-added tax, the other is funded through income tax. The last model is based on negative income tax. All models replace all the social incomes with basic income or negative income tax. The comparison is based on absolute differences, tax burdens and changes in income inequality, which is measured by Lorenz's curve and Gini's coefficient. The results indicate that the introduction of new systems would be relatively costly. The lowest income groups would benefit most.

The Basic Income concept in the perspective of Agent-Based modelling
Macháček, Vít ; Janský, Petr (advisor) ; Malovaná, Simona (referee)
The Basic Income concept in the perspective of Agent-Based modelling Abstract: The thesis study the relationship between the basic income introduction and the price level. The basic income would replace the existing social security. The resulting redistribution induce changes in the aggregate demand through the concave consumption function. The aggregate demand in turn affect the price creation mechanism. Because the price level is a result of activity of many different agents with private motivation and information, the work used a simple macroeconomic agent-based model to isolate the relationship. The simulation however did not succeed in isolating the possible link between the price level and the basic income introduction.
